About Us:
The Oregon Resiliency Project

The Oregon Resiliency Project (ORP) is a research, training, and outreach effort aimed at social and emotional learning, mental health promotion, and social-emotional assessment intervention in school settings. Founded in 2001, ORP is directed by Ken Merrell, Ph.D., professor of school psychology at the University of Oregon. The Strong Kids programs are the signature development of the team, but we have many other interests as well.

The ORP team includes Dr. Merrell, several graduate students from the University of Oregon's College of Education, and our partners in public schools and mental health agencies. More than 30 graduate students have participated in ORP since its inception, and our alumns are in prominent positions nationally in school districts, universities, state departments of education, children's hospitals, community mental health centers, and research institutes, where they carry on the work they started in ORP.
